This pear, walnut and cheddar crumble recipe is a quick and easy way to use pears as a dessert. The perfectly balanced flavour in this pear recipe is absolutely divine.
Ingredients
4 ripe Packham pears, halved
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup raisins
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 walnuts, roughly chopped
1/4 cup matured cheddar, grated
100g butter, melted
Method
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
To prepare the pears ready for stuffing, remove the core making a cavity to hold the stuffing. Take a small slice off the underside of the pears so they sit flat. Place onto a baking tray
In a large bowl combine the oats, raisins, garlic, walnuts and cheddar cheese. Using clean hands work the melted butter through the dry ingredients and bring together
Fill each pear half with the filling mounding up a little on the top
Place in the pre-heated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, till lightly colored and soft
Serve as a light lunch vegetarian option with a fresh salad or accompaniment to your favourite roast
