We never had many appliances or crockery growing up, so chucking everything in one bowl was the normal thing to do. Of course there was method to this. Follow the instructions and you too will enjoy serving this moist delicious cake. Decorate it to suit any occasion.

The Original One Bowl Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Cake
  1. Combine the flour, custard powder, bicarb, sugar, butter, milk, eggs and vanilla in a bowl and mix on medium speed for 8 minutes. Spoon into a greased and lined 20cm round cake pan
  2. Bake in a moderate oven 180oC for 1 hour or until cooked when tested. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before turning out of pan to cool completely
  3. Ice the cake and decorate with chocolate curls. Store in an airtight container until required.
Icing
  1. Sift together the icing sugar and extra cocoa. Stir in the butter and enough hot water to make a thick icing

Not enough moisture for the dry ingredients , I won't be making it again

Tastes delicious BUT there is not enough milk, if you don't add extra your mixer won't mix it, mine (admittedly not the toughest on the planet) got bogged and I feared for its health. So add a little extra until it does. Sorry, I didn't measure exactly how much, but I'd start with 1/3 cup and go up from there.
