These Air Fryer Garlic & Herb Parmesan Scones are a savoury delight with a golden, slightly crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. They're the perfect blend of tender and flaky, with just the right amount of crispness around the edges, making them an irresistible choice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
  • ¼ cup Perfect Italiano Garlic & Herb Parmesan, plus extra for garnish
  • 50g cold butter, chopped, plus 1 tablespoon melted butter to serve
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped chives
  • 200ml milk, plus 1 tbsp extra to brush
  • 2 tbs melted butter and extra Garlic & Herb Parmesan to finish
  • Salted butter to serve

Method

  1. Place the flour and Garlic and Herb Parmesan in a large bowl. Add butter and use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour. Mixture should look like fine breadcrumbs. Stir through chopped chives.
  2. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk. Use a flat-bladed knife to stir until the dough just clumps together.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Bring the dough together and gently knead until just smooth. Press dough out to a 2cm-thick disc. Use a 6.5cm round cutter to cut 8 rounds. Re-roll dough as needed. Brush the tops with milk.
  4. Place scones in the air fryer in a single layer and cook 15 minutes at 170°C. Remove to a wire rack to cool slightly. To serve, brush with melted butter, a sprinkle over extra Parmesan and spread with butter.

Tips & Hints

  1. Cook times will vary between air fryers. Check manufacturer’s recommendations. Start checking food at the minimum cook time and adjust to suit your air fryer.
  2. If the air fryer basket is too small to cook the eight scones at one time, cook in batches of two. Cool cooked scones on a wire rack.
  3. Lightly grease air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  4. Oven method – cook in preheated 200°C oven for 20-25 minutes.
  5. You can also add bacon, chopped sundried tomatoes or pesto to this scone recipe.
