This French toast bake is a great way to use up leftover ham. It also makes a popular finger food, footy finals recipe or brunch idea for gatherings.
Ingredients
Oil, for greasing
15 small dinner rolls or lunch box rolls
1 x 250g jar Rosella Fruit Chutney
450g sliced ham off the bone
2 ½ cups (300g) pizza cheese
3 eggs
1 cup (250ml) milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Grease a large (22cm x 30cm x 5cm) baking dish
Split open bread rolls, keeping one side attached
Spoon a dollop of fruit chutney onto a roll and top with slices of ham. Add 2 heaped tbsp of cheese and enclose in roll. Place into baking dish, split side facing up. Repeat with remaining rolls, chutney, ham and cheese, making sure to tightly pack rolls into baking dish
Whisk together eggs and milk. Season to taste with salt and pepper
Pour over egg milk mixture and stand for 30 minutes to allow bread to soak up liquid
Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C (fan-forced)
Top with remaining cheese and bake 25-30 minutes or until top is crisp and cheese has melted. Serve warm
