When is Pancake Day?
Pancake Day always falls on a Tuesday. In 2024, it falls on the the 13th of February. It takes place 47 days before Easter Sunday, so the date changes every year according to the Christian calendar and the days of Easter.
What is Pancake Day?
Pancake Day, also known as Pancake Tuesday and Shrove Tuesday, takes place the day before Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is when Lent begins, and is traditionally a time of fasting. Shrove Tuesday is the last opportunity to use up foods such as eggs, sugar and fats before the fast begins. These ingredients are often made up into pancakes, hence the name Pancake Day.
