Pork Yakiniku with Miso Dipping Sauce
Ingredients:
Method:
  1. Prepare the Miso Dipping Sauce by lightly toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan until golden and fragrant. Let them cool.
  2. Once cooled, place the sesame seeds in a jar and add the miso, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and a teaspoon of Street BBQ Japanese seasoning. Secure the lid and shake well until all the ingredients are fully combined. Set aside.
  3. Lightly oil a tray and lay out the thin pork slices.
  4. Sprinkle the slices with Street BBQ Japanese seasoning for added flavor.
  5. Heat up your grill or pan and cook the pork for about 2 minutes per side until golden and slightly crispy.
  6. Arrange the grilled pork slices on a plate and drizzle some of the miso dipping sauce over them. Serve with an extra bowl of sauce on the side for dipping.
  7. Enjoy with steamed rice, a fresh salad, or wrapped in lettuce leaves for a lighter option.
Tips & Hints:
  • Yakiniku (焼肉) literally means “grilled meat” in Japanese and is a staple of Japanese street food culture. Thin cuts of meat are grilled over an open flame and paired with flavourful dipping sauces to enhance the taste. It’s a social dining experience where everyone gathers around the grill, cooking and eating together.
