Make your own pickled spiced pears right at home with this easy recipe. Scrumptious served with pickled pork or on a cheeseboard and can be stored for weeks at a time.
In a large saucepan, bring the vinegar and sugar to the boil
Add the whole pears and gently simmer till there is no resistance when pricked with a bamboo skewer
Remove from the heat and carefully pack the pears into sterilized jars. Distribute the spices and lemon zest equally between the jars, then fill with the vinegar syrup and seal whist hot
Serve the pickled spiced pears on your cheese boards or with pickled pork or game
