How to soften butter fast, without a microwave

So you’re ready to bake, you’ve got your apron on, the oven is preheating and…your butter is forgotten, still sitting rock hard in the fridge. We’ve all been there! Don't waste time waiting for it to warm up, there are easy ways to soften your butter quickly. Watch and learn two easy methods that don’t use the microwave.
How to bring butter to room temperature quickly

Method 1: Softening butter with a grater
The first technique is taking your chilled butter and grating it. The smaller grated pieces of butter warm up to room temperature super quickly, and you can practically use it straight away. If you have a food processor, use the grater attachment to grate your butter even faster. Voila! Softened butter in no time.

Method 2: Softening butter by cubing it
This technique takes a little bit longer, but it’s also less messy than using a grater. Simply dice your chilled butter up into smaller cubes and spread them out into one layer. Let sit for 5-10 minutes to come to room temp, just the right amount of time to prep and measure out all your other ingredients.
