Method:
Base
  1. Grease and line a 30x20cm slice pan with baking paper.
  2. Melt Fairy and golden syrup in a small saucepan or microwave in short bursts for 1-2 minutes or until melted.
  3. Combine remaining dry ingredients in a bowl and pour melted Fairy mixture on top. Fold or stir gently until combined.
  4. Press mixture into prepared slice pan and flatten with a flat-bottomed glass. Bake at 160C for 18-20 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool slightly before icing.
Icing
  1. Melt Fairy and golden syrup in a small saucepan or microwave. Add icing sugar and stir to combine. Add boiling water and stir until smooth and thick. Spread over slice. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  2. Cut into bars.
Tips & Hints:
  • Decorate with golden sprinkles for a festive flair. We used gold sprinkles available from supermarkets.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt to the base to make the flavours pop.
  • We used quick oats as they have a smoother texture, but you can always blitz regular oats, this will make the slice chewier.
  • Slice will keep for 3-4 days in an airtight container.
