There’s just one question that seems to plague shoppers when buying avocados. How do you know if an avocado is ripe?
Checking if your avocado is ripe depends on the type of avocado you're purchasing.
- Hass avocados change colour as they ripen, Shepard avocados do not.
- Hass avocados are ripe when they turn a purplish black colour and feel soft near the stem.
- Shepard avocados are ripe when they feel soft near the stem, but they will still be bright green.
