How to peel and core apples
Here are three easy ways to prepare apples, including peeling, coring, slicing, and a quick snack hack that makes packing apples for lunch super easy!
Peeling and coring apples
- Using a peeler, peel the apple while turning it. The continuous motion makes it easier than peeling smaller strips.
- Use an apple corer to cut out the core.
- From here, you can stuff and bake the apples whole, or cut them into slices or pieces for your recipe.
Tip – After peeling, pop the apples in lemon water to stop them browning.
How to slice apples into matchsticks
- Slice with a mandolin, which gives you thin disks.
- Stack the disks and use a knife to slice into matchsticks.
Tip - These thin, crunchy batons are great in salads.
Easy apple hack
Slice four ways around the apple core, then use a rubber band for a snack-hack. It keeps the apple together until snack time, reducing the browning without the need to rub it with lemon.
